Windows 10 dual cpu

I have actually a motherboard with dual Xeons, 8 cores, 16 logical processors, and 128G of buffered RAM.

You watching: Windows 10 dual cpu

In full, I've got 32 logical processors.

I perform many CGI calculations (Vue, Terragen, World Machine, Poser, DAZ Studio, Blender), and I also carry out most VR Development, so I require a reasonable rapid gamer environment. At this time I have actually a GTX 1070 board, either doubling that up shortly or going to a 2080.

Do I need Windows 10 Workstation? For gaming, would tright here be any type of benefits OR disadvantages?

Games don't, it's true. When I had an i7 in the motherboard (single CPU), it would certainly seldom hit 100% in a game. The miscellaneous software program I usage to MAKE the game, yet, would lock up the CPU at 100% for hrs at a time.

License-wise, a Pro for Workstations or an Enterprise, or a Windows Server SKU is required for Xeon-based devices. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/windows-processor-requirements

Ah, many thanks. That's the info I couldn't discover. Buried in the middle of that chart is this:

Intel Xeon processors are supported on Windows 10 Pro for Workstations and Windows 10 Enterprise only

What was throwing me is that the charts I discovered about Workterminal shelp that you needed it for 4 CPU's. I just have actually 2. I think you need to have Xeon's to obtain SMP working though, so I'm not certain why they specify needing Workstation to make maximum usage of 4 CPU's.

I was trying to perform an upgrade of Win7Pro, yet probably I'll just P2V the Win7 for some of the older software program I have actually and carry out a fresh install.

No, it isn't essential for you to buy a workterminal for gaming, if anypoint you can custom make your pc desktop computer or buy a gaming lappeak of your choice. Anymethod why carry out you desire a workstation, isn't that overkill on steroids?

I currently have it; purchasing of the hardware isn't the issue. The question is, what Win10 O/S is finest for it.
