It was randomly turning itself off. No flashing lights or anypoint, just off and red light. At initially it was a rare problem, but came to be extremely frequent to become not worth playing anyeven more.

You are watching: Wii u turns off by itself

Took it to the regional video game hardware repair location and they couldn’t obtain the difficulty to recur. No charge.

So, I thought perhaps it was the power unit/adapter. I didn’t bring mine to the repair save. They provided their own. Got one off of Amazon. It played for around 2 hrs then shut off aacquire. Same problem, and it’s acquiring more constant aobtain.

Any advice? Did I gain another bad PSU? Is it something else?

Another problem you might be having actually is overheating. The WiiU (and many electronics) shut dvery own instantly when getting to a details temperature to keep the hardware safe. If it's in a location wbelow it can't ventilate properly it can be overheating

Also possibly examine the vents wbelow the air comes out. Might be clogged with dust (not helping at all the overheating scenario)

I forobtained to point out that I initially assumed of this as the problem, as well. It was a little plugged up through dust, so I dutitotally blew it out through compressed air. It shut down aobtain while loading a game.

I took a look at it, and it appeared that the fan was not running. I reported this to the repair guy but his report came back that it was functioning as it need to and also the fan was running, too.

Does the fan not run at startup? Could the PSU be running the console yet not the fan for some reason?

this is probs not it however this is the only thing I deserve to think of because I understand nothing of techy stuff, however the wii u immediately powers down after an hour of not being supplied, ive not checked settings however perhaps theres something that deserve to collection the time it powers down on, it could be like 5 minutes or smth

the other point I have the right to think of is possibly the wii u/remotes are a bit broken, my lappeak really battered and also it supplied to have actually a problem wright here simply touching roughly the power switch turned it off, relocating the lid did aswell, perhaps somepoint like that can be happening to your wii/remotes have actually a problem like that?

I doubt it is the automatic shut dvery own, because next time you turn it on it shows a message in the display screen saying that the console shut down bereason of intask.

This is fairly widespread.

Your Wii U is obviously feeling jealous because you very most likely bought a Nintendo Switch recently.

It's a famous fact that this is a very sore topic for the Wii U and there's poor blood between the 2 consoles.

To remedy the problem, I would suggest rerelocating the Switch from your family members for a week or 2 until the Wii U settles dvery own.

Then, gradually reintroduce the Switch to your Wii U.

Quick visits at initially, making them progressively much longer.

After a week they should feel comfortable enough approximately one another.

If that doesn't work, try vacuuming dust out in situation it's overheating.

You point out that the fan doesn't spin. Turn on uour Wii U and watch the fan. Make certain it spins.

Try wiggling the power supply cable at various allude, particularly wright here it enters the mechanism.

This is funny as hell, yet no...no Switch.

I’ll work on the cable. Maybe there’s something going on with that. Thanks!

If that doesn't work, try vacuuming dust out in case it's overheating.

Are you crazy? Are you outta your mind? You need to never vacuum an digital device. The static electrical power the vacuum cleaner generates have the right to short-circuit your mechanism.

Something favor this occurred to me once, and it was such a stupid problem, that I doubt it will be your problem, yet it might be worth checking.

Once, a fucking spider determined to tangle its web in the fan, and the consingle was overheating and turning off. It took me about a week to notice the difficulty. Just cleaned the fan, and also difficulty resolved.

What about the power outlet the AC cord is plugged into? Is it a wall surface or power strip? Since if it's a power strip then that might be your concern. Some consoles like the original ps4 had actually problems through power once plugged right into power strips.

It is a sexpedition. Part of me believed around that, too, but I hadn’t done anypoint about it.

What’s a far better solution? Directly into the wall? A various strip? Somepoint else?
