In Windows 7, after a couple of weeks of running Hamachi VPN, the internet symbol in the mechanism tray shows a red "X", indicating I have no network connection:

*

This is false, as I am not only associated to 2 netfunctions, I"m also connected to the internet (as shown below), therefore, the symbol need to present no errors.

You are watching: Why is there a red x on my internet icon

*

I"ve researched the LogMeIn Hamachi aid forums and also several other connected forums and no one seems to have posted a functioning solution.

What I"ve Tried So Far:

I have actually uninstalled Hamachi

I recollection the regional LAN adapter.

I have adjusted the order of provided relationships in Network Connections > Modern > Adapters & Bindings

I have disabled IPv6 on both netfunctions, and one at a time

I deleted the "Incoming Connection" I had actually for my Windows 7 VPN in Netoccupational Adapters

I"ve run my research study sources dry and I"m out of ideas. Any suggestions?

At first, I assumed this didn"t work, so I moved on, but it transforms out I didn"t enable enough time for it to work:

I followed the instructions in the high rated answer in this thcheck out.

Click Start, , form regedit, and also then press ENTER.

Locate and then click the following regisattempt subkey: HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlNetwork

Right-click this subkey, click Export , and then conserve the selected branch in a record.

Click the Netjob-related subessential aget, and then delete the Config entry. Do not delete the >Netoccupational subcrucial. The Config entry will certainly be recreated as soon as you restart the computer.

Restart the computer system. You may have to manually turn off the computer.

The config key is re-created on the following boot up.

The final step (6) takes a few minutes to finish. Throughout that time, I unplugged my network cable and replugged to initate the internet link and the essential rebuild.

Lets attempt flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and gain back MS"s Hosts file ...Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

Echo onpushdwindowssystem32driversetcattrib -h -s -r hostsecho 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTSattrib +r +h +s hostspopdipconfig /releaseipconfig /renewipconfig /flushdnsnetsh winsock recollection allnetsh int ip recollection allshutdvery own -r -t 1del %0Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer system will reboot itself.

this solved my worry.

If you are able to verify that you are associated to the internet, the symbol should have no bearing on anything. However, I deserve to understand just how it is tough to look at. Try opening a command prompt as an admin and also typing:

c:ipconfig /releasec:ipconfig /renewc:ipconfig /flushdnsc:ipconfig /registerdnsSee if any kind of of these aid.

I skilled the very same trouble without any kind of VPN put up. What resolved it wregarding make sure the Network-related Connections business was running.

To enable the company, press the Win key, they start inputting "Service". Go to Services, find Netoccupational Connections (click the Name column to sort), ideal click, Properties, and also choose Startup Type to Manual. Start the business, and the symbol must adjust to the Wireless settings one.

*

I had actually disabled the organization in an effort to reduce the number of procedures running on the system, and it didn"t seem to reason any kind of difficulty other than the symbol looking prefer a netoccupational cable, rather of the wiremuch less signal bars.

This happens whenever you set up a new incoming link.

It taken place to me a while ago and also I was unable to uncover a solution apart from going to "Network Connections" and deleting the incoming link.

I think it"s simply a glitch within Windows.
