You are watching: What is a magazine safety on a smith and wesson

*

I am looking at obtaining a Smith and also Weskid M&P 9c and I am not sure if I want the design with the magazine safety and security or not. For those of you that might not know, the magazine safety and security renders it difficult to fire a round in the chamber if the magazine is out. I beleive that this is intended for police police officers in situation someone is trying to take manage of their weapon they deserve to just drop the magazine and also the gun will not fire. I really like the idea of the magazine security but it also appears prefer it"s simply an additional point that have the right to break. The non-magazine safety design is also $24 much less than the variation with the magazine safety and security. So what"s your guys" take on this? Also, anyone that owns an M&P 9c how do you favor it?

"S&W magazine disconnect"November 28th, 2007, 08:31 AM http://www.defensivelug.com/vbulletin/showthreview.php?t=36405- Janq

I bought mine without it, I love it. I don"t have to have that another point to concern around.roughtly about 2500 rounds down the pipe, flawmuch less.
I own a 9c and also absolutely love it. Mine does not have the mag release safety and security. My various other weapons have actually a mag safety and security and also I honestly do not miss it on my 9c. I am not for or against a mag safety, it just happens that mine does not have actually it. I have 700 wwb rounds via it, and also 76 gold dots through it and absolutely NO jams, NO ftf, NO fte, NO hiccups whatsoever. If you are considering an M&P I would say go for it, they are good bit handweapons. As much as the mag safety and security, favor I shelp I am neither for it or versus it. Any kind of safety and security isn"t 100% guaranteed to job-related. Having a mag safety does not mean your gun is 100% safe once no mag is in. Remember anypoint mechanical can fail or break. HAving an empty gun with a mag security does not 100% guarantee against ad. T

I have actually a M&P .40c w/ the mag disconnect and have actually never really noticed it. What I expect is that I seldom dry fire my item, so it"s no big deal for me. Personally I like the security feature for the factors expressed by various other world, no big deal. At initially I had actually some trouble via the slide locking ago prior to the mag was empty, and also one time the striker did fail to touch the round off, yet after 100 rds it all went away. Now it is my favorite bring item, currently it has actually about 1200 rds and shoots excellent and also gives me no trouble!!!

I have actually 2 M&Ps. I really favor them. Both of mine came through the mag safety and security, however I will be transforming out the sear housing blocks to no-mag safety versions.

I don"t think so. I am not editing and enhancing the internals I am replacing them via manufacturing facility components. If I sent it in I don"t think S&W would certainly notice any kind of distinction. I am also a S&W certified M&P armorer so probably that would score me some points. Bottom line, I"m not worried about it.

I have the MP9c via out the mag safety and security. The factor I decided that version is you never recognize what have the right to happen as soon as the SHTF. Lets say the mag dropped but you still had actually one in the chamber, you deserve to still take treatment of business. Either method they both are good inexpensive guns...
I favor the mag security on my .40c I pack one in the chamber and also then pop out magazine to re-holster safely. With a full mag ofcourse. That way tbelow would be no chance of ADVERTISEMENT as soon as its pointed at my junk.

I say no to the mag security for the reason B52 states (although I"ve never before had a trouble with the mag dropping free on my M&P - I HAVE on the Kahr PM9 though). Anvarious other reason is the safety examine at the end of any type of IDPA or handy tactical session as soon as you are expected to drop the mag, rack the slide and also push the cause to present the variety understand that your weapon is truly unloaded. With the mag safety, you"d have to put an empty mag back in to be able to perform this.
