Ipod keeps pausing

Hello, I"m new to this ipod stuff so please excusage me ignorance. I"ve checked into this forum lots before but just now needed to post somepoint. I"ve just bought an 80gb classic ipod off ebay which functions fine. I"ve put it right into my auto (BMW) making use of an AUX cable (admittedly a cheap one) and also it plays fine. My difficulty is that the ipod regularily pauses itself whilst in the vehicle (when the lock is on and off) and also I"m not certain why. I"ve got a suspicion that it"s somepoint to do via the AUX cable yet can not figure out why it would impact the playback. Any ideas - cable or something actually wrong through the ipod?? All suggestions welcomed but make any type of response in "idiots guide" format!!! Cheers. Roger
If I remember appropriately, once you unplug the headphones the iPod detects it and also paprovides the music. Plug some headphones in, play, and then pull out the lead. If it paprovides then the difficulty in your auto will be that the iPod thinks that the lead has actually been pulled out. Also, if it does pause, plug the headphones earlier in - does play instantly resume? Do the test and report ago.

Thanks for the input, I"ll have a play later on and report ago. It"s played OK the last few days but my ipod has actually been tucked ameans in the arm-rest as opposed to relocating about on the passenger seat which would suggest towards the cable being the concern.
Managed to grab a set of headphones whilst at work and also you"re appropriate, when I rerelocate the headphones the ipod pauses, so I presume my cheap phono cable isn"t the tightest of fits so, once it wiggles slightly, the ipod thinks it"s been removed & paoffers. Might get myself a far better quality phono lead.Don"t intend there is any type of means of changing this in the choices establishing to continue playing??? Thanks for your aid.
Several civilization seem to have actually this worry with iPods and it is not generally the lead. It is commonly the iPod headphone detection being a bit dodgy. It seems to be worse/reported even more once you plug in something other than headphones.

I can not really say whether or not you have the right to carry out anypoint without seeing the iPod in the flesh. The mp3 player I fixed with a comparable worry was addressed with a watch screwdriver without opening up the player. If you acquire it wrong though you have the right to end up trashing the headphone socket entirely. One other thing to try, disattach the lead from the car and also plug it right into the iPod just. Does the iPod play? If it does then give the lead a gentle wiggle. Does it pausage again?
