This is many likely the Windows Upday Service. I get this slowdvery own eextremely month in the time of Upday Tuesday. I finally disabled Automatic Upday in Control Panel and disabled the Update Service. I downpack the updates for POSReady XP from the Microsoft Update Catalog. If you boot up and also let it run overnight you may gain an alert of updated to downpack if you usage the POSReady registry hack. If you don"t use the hack then disable Windows Automatic Upday in Services.

I would peril a guess you have a twin core processor. On my single core CPU it"s at 99% when searching for updates

There are 2 various other radio knobs that really don"t apply and also I"ve never before set.

Make sure your Automatic Update Service is Disabled. If you still acquire 50% usage svchold then something else is slowing the computer. Double click the company and choose Disable in the dropdown box.

XP no longer offers updates unless you perform a registry hack to make the computer look choose POSReady. Edit: BC does not enable us to write-up the hack. You should google that if you intend to use it.

Microsoft available one update after end of assistance bereason the vulnercapacity was understood important but that"s besides the allude because XP has many security holes that have actually never before been patched specifically .NET on XP. End of XP assistance was April 2014.

With auto updates off and reboot, CPU usage is normal, 99% idle.

By keeping updays off, will not I loss updates for MS Office and also various other MS items?

I understand also XP updays are disongoing, but not other MS updates.

Can only uncover "My Computer". Can not discover "computer" information you posted.
