I had actually the same trouble, and ssuggest quitting out of itunes, and restarting iTunes fixed the trouble, as sassist above!

I Have a Mac mini and also had the exact same difficulty, however I was using a SAMSUNG exterior CD drive.

After rebeginning I still had actually the same trouble - I discovered that my CD rom was plugged right into my USB HUB and also as soon as I moved it directly into the Mac mini it worked perfectly.

Thank you. I was trying to burn a cd in itunes yet iTunes wouldnt identify it until I unplugged it from my usb hub and also straight right into my macbook pro. Weird though bereason tright here was nothing else plugged right into the hub. I guess the computer system knows the difference.
