Dell touch screen ghost clicking

I"ve acquired a Dell Inspiron P30E001 Touchdisplay screen lapheight. Having an problem wright here after a brief while the lappeak will certainly register as though a finger is poignant the height of the screen. This does not go amethod and you are then unable to usage the trackpad at all as there is no mouse.

The machine has currently been totally reloaded however that has actually had no positive impact.

Interestingly, as soon as disabling the touchscreen through gadget manager, the issue stops. The issue only returns after re-permitting the touchdisplay driver.

Typically, the machine is 2 months out of warranty.

Also, clean the screen and you can. There can be something stuck on it that you can not check out (that would define it gaining much better when you swiped throughout it).

Have you checked to see if tright here is an updated driver obtainable for the laptop model? If you usage the touchscreen in other places on the display does it "totally free up" the mouse? Do you allow the lappeak to "sleep" once lid is closed? - Ive seen this cause some really weird and also dumb concerns.

I hear you on the warranty issue... But it can be physically an concern and not necessarily software application based. How long does it take from a fresh restart to thinking the display screen is being touched?

Hi many thanks for the reply.

I"ve simply wiped it down currently and re-allowed the touch display screen. It commonly takes a couple of minutes for the worry to take impact so I"ll need to wait and also check out.

How annoying! You could try Dell via a warranty request since it is unmost likely that the defect was not tright here a little bit earlier within the warranty period. You never recognize your luck, they might offer some type of deal.

In all likelihood it is a hardware fault and also if you are incredibly lucky a removal of the display screen and also some wiping will enhance the instance. Don"t obtain your hopes to high.

Best of luck

Thanks for the reply,

I"ve had actually a look on Dells website for anypoint relating to the touchdisplay driver yet I"m not having actually any kind of joy.

http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukdhs1/product-support/product/inspiron-17-7778-2-in-1-lappeak...

If you touch the display in other places it still detects that you are touching else where and also will respond to presses. However before, the initial push at the optimal part is still there.

I believe the lapheight is frequently put to sleep rather than being completely shutdown. It"s normally around 5 minutes or so prior to the display screen thinks it"s being pressed.

strangely sufficient after swiping a finger along wright here it was being pressed. It is no longer seeing it as being pressed dvery own. I"m not certain exactly how ong that will certainly be the case for though.

Sounds like a hardware failure, if you have done updates and also drivers and also re installed the OS through no readjust tright here is not much else to it. You may should leave the touch display disabled or rearea it at your price, if dell will not replace it out of warranty.

When i functioned on befifty percent of dell i did get a couple of callouts for this exact concern. Usually Dell would certainly just sfinish me a replacement screen which resolved the concern. and also sometimes it was simply the chauffeurs or the cable that connects the screen. Sometimes wbelow the pins connects it becomes loose and does not register effectively.

Good news. Did you take the display screen out to clean it? Or was it somepoint stuck to the top touch surface so that a wipe via a cleaner cured the trouble.

Thankfully we didn"t have to take the scren out.

Just offered a bit of anti static foam on a towel and also that appeared to perform the trick. So must"ve been something simply stuck to the display that we couldn"t watch.
